The X Factor Finalists mime their charity single You Are Not Alone.
I love programs like the X factor. As sad as it is, the X Factor is a key ingredient to a good weekend for me. I love the bitching, the music, the “talent”, the tension . . . but what the hell is with the miming?? Every week when the remaining contestants open up the results show in that cheesy American style (the same way they do on American Idol, surprisingly), they always mime. Why? Why do they mime on a show that is supposedly all about finding real talent, and putting on a great live performance week after week?
So, miming every Sunday as a group, is one thing. But for the charity single? Tut tut tut. I personally think it is insulting to the charity, to the Children of Great Ormand Street Hospital, and to the general public, for the producers of the show to make the contestants mime that song, especially with some of the children in the audience! C’mon finalists, can you not even sing live for them? You’ll do it to win votes! I don’t remember last years contestants miming for their 2008 charity single.
I think the charity single is a great idea, and what a fantastic charity to choose. But I just think miming it, is quite wrong. I would definitely support this charity and would kindly donate money, but I shall not be doing it by purchasing this single.
On a happier note, it was great to see Miss Frank return to the X Factor stage, Jedward survived another week, and finally Simon Cowell lost a contestant – his face was priceless! It’s sad to see Jamie Archer leave, but his silly long scarves tied to his jeans were annoying me!
