So, a little birdie, an X factor insider, informed me that the whole Olly & Stacey X Factor love story, is in fact a fake story, a publicity stunt, conjured up by Simon Cowell and his people to protect Olly. Why?? Because rumour has it that Olly’s real love interest is actually one of the other remaining X factor contestant’s – who are all male!

That’s what I heard . . .

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

So last Friday, the 20th of November, 2009, New Moon was released onto the big screen in the UK. I had originally planned to do the whole super-fan thing, and camp out for two days in Leicester Square in order to attend the UK premiere (or at least jump around and scream like a teenager from behind a barrier), similar to when I ‘attended’ the Sex and the City premiere (minus the camping). Unfortunately, there was to be no UK premiere, only a super fan Twilight party, which I couldn’t get tickets for, and was also unable to head down to Battersea Park to jump around and scream like a teenager from behind a barrier.

Upon its release, I also couldn’t go and see the movie on the Friday the 20th or Saturday the 21st due other plans (although I was very tempted to blow them off – friends birthdays aren’t that important right? Or (more…)

The X Factor Finalists mime their charity single You Are Not Alone.

I love programs like the X factor. As sad as it is, the X Factor is a key ingredient to a good weekend for me. I love the bitching, the music, the “talent”, the tension . . . but what the hell is with the miming?? Every week when the remaining contestants open up the results show in that cheesy American style (the same way they do on American Idol, surprisingly), they always mime. Why? Why do they mime on a show that is supposedly all about finding real talent, and putting on a great live performance week after week?

So, miming every Sunday as a group, is one thing. But for the charity single? Tut tut tut. I personally think it is insulting to the charity, to the Children of Great Ormand Street Hospital, and to the general public, for the producers of the show to make the contestants mime that song, especially with some of the children in the audience! C’mon finalists, can you not even sing live for them? You’ll do it to win votes! I don’t remember last years contestants miming for their 2008 charity single.

I think the charity single is a great idea, and what a fantastic charity to choose. But I just think miming it, is quite wrong. I would definitely support this charity and would kindly donate money, but I shall not be doing it by purchasing this single.

On a happier note, it was great to see Miss Frank return to the X Factor stage, Jedward survived another week, and finally Simon Cowell lost a contestant – his face was priceless! It’s sad to see Jamie Archer leave, but his silly long scarves tied to his jeans were annoying me!

Are the Irish twins getting on you’re nerves?? Despite Jedward slightly winning me over me during last weeks Deadlock with their rendition of ‘Rock DJ’, they’re still a pair of annoying kids. So if you feel the same why not take a few punches at them at www.punchjohnandedwardintheface.co.uk

You can even punch Simon Cowell – because we all know he’s the one who really deserves a slap.

So tonight I watched Episode one of FlashForward, the new drama from the creators of Lost. Mr Smith had been raving about it, so had my friend (who coincidently works for the show); both encouraged me to watch despite their brief descriptions not really selling it to me. I love Lost. I can’t get enough of the show, and even when everyone slags off its complicated twists and they all say ‘I’m lost by Lost’, I don’t care, they obvioualy can’t keep up with it  – it’s not that hard!

So when I was told FlashForward was created by the same people and is  a fairly similar styled program (i.e unexplainable events happening and linking people together), I should have been into it straight away, but I was reluctant to watch it as I feared it would be a huge dissapointment. How can you follow Lost? But, in the end, random Wednesday evening boredom got the better of me and I watched it online.

First off, it was obvious within the first 5 seconds that the show shares the same creators as Lost. Our lead guy, Mark, awakes confused, in unfamiliar surroundings (well not unfamiliar, but strange surroundings because his car has been turned upside down), screams follow his confusion, along with explosions, shouting, cries for help – pretty much exactly the same as the opening scene of Lost, where Jack wakes up confused to the sounds of screaming shouting victims and explosions of the aircraft. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing though, maybe a bit predictable, but if anyone knows how to entice a TV audience, its the people who created Lost. And it looks like they’ve recruited a few of the Lost actors too – Olivia, Marks wife, is played by Sonya Walger, who played Penny Widmore in Lost. And I read that Dominic Monaghan, who played the lovable Charlie, will appear in FlashForward in the episodes I’ll be watching soon as a character called Simon – I’m certainly looking forward to that. I was gutted when Lost killed off poor little Charlie.

I really like the idea (so far) behind FlashForward - it’s even more crazy than a plane crashing onto the one desert island it shouldn’t have crashed onto - because it’s global, the storyline affects the whole world, or so it seems, like I said, if anyone can entice an audience these guys can. So, despite the used actors (more may come) and slightly secondhand opening scene, I did think it was good and have a feeling its going to be one of my new obsess about programs.

But I do have one question – what is Seth Macfarlane doing on FlashForward?? The creator of the best and funniest adult cartoon ever known to man, the voice of Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, but most importantly Brian Griffin, a true comedy genius . . . and yet he is now playing some FBI agent (with about 3 lines so far) for an ABC drama??

Okay then.
