I was almost scared to write this next sentence in case I jinxed myself and brought the curse of 2016 back from the dead, but *braces herself* 2017 is really shaping up to be a good year! There, I said it.
Let’s face it, last year was crappy. Crap crap crappy. Made even crappier by my crappy end to the crappy year followed by a bit of a crappy start to 2017. But I picked myself up and tried to reboot and now, just as I desperately hoped they would, things seem to be happening. The fog is starting lift and I am beginning to see a path, a good one, and I’m more eager than Dorothy in a pair of ruby slippers to follow the road that lies ahead.
So, what’s been going on? What’s been making me a happy chappy?
Well, from new members of the family being welcomed into the world, to smashing running goals and celebrating good news, and of course all the little joys in life, the past few weeks have been awesome…
Little Baby Alice
My Sister gave birth to the most precious little baby girl. I’m so inlove with her. They named her Alice – such a gorgeous name. I literally burst into tears when I met her at the hospital and held her for the first time. Proudest Aunty ever!
I rather impulsively decided to write this post about Bloggers breaking these so-called rules that seem to have been set for us. I got a great response and it turns out a lot of you agree and we all have a lot to say on the matter. And in the very same week Zoe London, a blogger I’ve followed for donkeys years, posted about this topic too as she admitted “Going back to old school blogging has made me happy” – a fantastic post, a perfect read for a Monday morning if you ask me.
Tasty. Milky. Soothing. Warm. And a much healthier replacement to my evening glasses of red wine.
Sooooooo impressed with Matalan’s homeware section at the moment. I popped in with my Mum at the weekend and seriously, from gorgeous cushions, candles and duvet sets, to hanging plants and interesting storage boxes, they have so much incredible stuff in at the moment.
In February I clocked up nearly 105 miles of running and I couldn’t be more delighted. Read my full February training diary … and please pardon the toilet talk!
I finally caught up on my fave HBO series, GIRLS, which has returned to our screens and is three episodes in (catch ep four on Sky Atlantic tonight). I am obsessed with this show and although I am GUTTED this season is to be the last *cries into her coffee* I am loving the sixth season so far. Never a show to disappoint, the first two episodes are jam packed with enough drama, nudity and questionable outfits to make even Carrie Bradshaw jealous. However, it’s the third episode, titled ‘American B****’ that is the one to watch; it actually left me with knots in my stomach. It’s a standalone episode, so you could watch it without having seen any of GIRLS previously. It explores equality between men and women, the power between rich and poor, and above all, sexual consent. If you’re only ever going to watch one episode of GIRLS, make it ‘American B****’
Spring is on its way
On Saturday I bought a new denim pinafore and I can’t wait for Spring to officially get here so I can wear it. I am soooo ready for lighter nights, pretty pumps, bare legs and Easter eggs.
Eurgh, I’d done so well at avoiding this. I honestly didn’t think this kind of programme would be my cup of tea, but my sister put an episode on last week and I was immediately sucked in by the boozy dramas, couple swapping and Ibiza scene. I’ve since become obsessed and watched all the episodes on ITV Player. Now I’m totally hooked on the Rep Life.
I got a Job!
Yes, can you believe it? After what feels like an eternity of being broke and bored, I finally found myself a job, and a bloody good one too. I don’t want to say what it is yet as I’m planning to do a proper post soon explaining the job alongside some other news that I want to share. I’m hoping to get round to that over the next few weeks. But as you can imagine, I cannot wait to get crackin’ in my new role, even if I am super nervous.
And as a new part of my Happy Monday lists, I’ve decided to finish each one with a selection of the blogs, posts & articles that I’ve enjoyed reading that week, so here goes:
Time to be honest with myself
Our first month in Canada
Telling stories with Fashion Photography
24 Hours in Paris – The Proposal
A letter to myself: trust me you are doing okay
New York is always a good idea
What has made you happy recently? Spill the beans!
P.S. This blog post is my 560th blog post – how crazy is that?
