Us Brits love a drink. Boozing in the British Sunshine is a pastime of ours. If it was a sport we would be winning Bronze, Silver & Gold in Rio right now. The second that Sun comes out so do the barbecues, the bikini’s – and the booze!

But what if your detoxing, or training, or perhaps even Pregnant? For those that are, Summer can feel like the worst time to ditch the booze – trust me, I know, I’m on Week Two of my Alcohol Free detox. With the glorious weather sitting in its 20’s, and the Garden Party season in full swing, it’s felt like a bit of a battle. I could bitch and moan about how I can’t drink at my Sisters barbecue, or can’t party over the upcoming bank holiday week, or how I may have to turn down an invite to my friends Pimms in the Park picnic. But instead I’ve been making some wonderfully tasty and totally refreshing mocktails, and they’ve been going down a treat!

Not only do they taste fantastic, but these not-so-naughty cocktails are actually incredibly good for you. As well as being alcohol free and made with fruit, all three recipes are made with Innocent Coconut Water which makes them super hydrating. It also means there are no added preservatives or sugar in them because Innocent are the only brand of Coconut Water to be chilled at source. So whilst everyone else wakes up the next day with a head full of pain and regret, I wake up feeling happy, healthy and completely energized.

Why not have a go at making them yourself? Choose your poison:
(Or erm, non-poisonous poison)

The Watermelon Slushy

Perfect for those that normally enjoy a fruity cocktail, the Watermelon Slushy is not only the perfect ice cold refreshment for a sunny day, but it’s just looks so pretty and colourful. All that’s missing is a pink umbrella.

What you’ll need:

  • 8/9 Ice cubes
  • 1 cup innocent coconut water
  • 4 cups of cubed watermelon
  • 2 cups of cubed chilled/frozen pineappleΒ Β (1-2 hrs in the freezer)
  • 2 cups of cubed fresh mango

Bung it all together into a blender for about 30-40 seconds. Serve in either a wine glass or a martini glass. Add a slice of Watermelon to make it even more beautiful thus making everyone green with mocktail envy.

The Coconut Cooler

Warning: The Coconut Cooler tastes so good, if you close your eyes and take a sip, you can almost feel the sand beneath your feet and here the waves lapping!
Note: Please remember to reopen your eyes at some point.

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 of a cup of innocent coconut water
  • 1⁄2 a cup of chilled/frozen pineapple chunks (1-2 hrs in the freezer)
  • a pinch of turmeric
  • a squeeze of lime
  • 1 hammock*

Pour the coconut water into a blender, add the pineapple chunks and whizz them round until the mixture starts to look frothy. Then squeeze in a dash of lime and add a sprinkle of turmeric and voila, you’ve got yourself a Coconut Cooler.

The Ginger Ninja

Ditching the booze doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy shots with the gang. Whilst friends knock back the tequila, why not slam your very own elixir, a perfect remedy for a healthy boost and a natural pick-me-up (and then maybe pop the recipe in your friend’s pocket, they’ll need it in the morning!)

What you’ll need:

  • 1⁄2 a cup of innocent coconut water
  • 1⁄2 a tsp of honey
  • 1⁄2 an inch of grated ginger
  • the juice of 1⁄2 a lemon
  • a pinch of seasalt
  • a pinch of turmeric

Add all the ingredients into a jam jar and shake it like a Polaroid Picture until its all mixed together. Serve in a shot glass or tumbler with a slice of Lemon (licking of salt first is optional)

All three recipes will satisfy any cocktail craving yet are completely alcohol free and full of health benefits. They are also lot of fun to make! You can also double or triple up on ingredients to make big batches and take them to parties, parks or barbecues. Just pop them into a smoothie bottle and an ice bag.

What do you think? Don’t they look yummy? I can assure you – They Are! Even those that are drinking alcohol will probably want a glass of your marvelous mocktails.

What ingredients would you use in a Coconut Water based mocktail? Already got a recipe to share? I’d love to know in the comments below.
