Last week my Sister and her new Hubby flew to Hawaii for their Honeymoon. Almost immediately after she landed I began receiving pictures of white sand, blue waters and even bluer skies. These were followed up with images of Tropical cocktails, beautiful balcony views, and dolphins kissing. Swiping through all these gorgeous pics I couldn’t help but fantasize about my own Honeymoon, and with the Beard and I on the verge of Wedding Planning, I began to wonder where we will be escaping to for our own little piece of Paradise. Then, as if reading my mind, Flight Centre contacted me about their Honeymoon Holidays…
With all the stress of planning a Wedding, the last thing you need is stress when planning a Honeymoon. With that in mind, Flight Centre now offer a huge selection of stress-free, easy-to-book, inclusive Honeymoon Holidays. And to celebrate these amazing Honeymoon packages, they have been asking their favorite bloggers ‘What would your Dream Honeymoon Holiday be?’
I was Umming and Ahhing over what destination I would pick as there are so many places I want to visit, but Bali took the top prize for Honeymooning (with Mexico coming a close second). As much as the Beard and I love our city breaks, our historical holidays and our budget backpacking, I feel as though a Honeymoon should be about romance, relaxation and nothing but class all the way. We live in London, one of the busiest cities in the world and we have to deal with this frantic fast paced city on a daily basis, so for our Honeymoon I want us to escape to a romantic Paradise, and Bali certainly looks like Paradise to me…
With a backdrop of dramatic volcanoes, and a rich collection of white sandy beaches, not to mention a coral reef worthy of a dive or two, it’s no wonder so many couples head to this beautiful destination. I’ve been interested in this location ever since I read about Liz Gilbert’s Balinese adventures, made famous by scenes played out by Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem. With it’s incredible culture, beautiful surroundings, and it’s tranquil spas and resorts, from the outside Bali looks dreamy, and I can’t wait to get inside. It’s a place that prides itself on hospitality, so I know it wouldn’t just be our resort that we would fall in love with, but the friendliness of our hosts, the Balinese people.
As well as relaxing on the gorgeous Bali beaches and swimming in a five star Hotel Pool, there are plenty of Bali activities I would love to get involved in, starting with a Balinese cooking class. I love love LOVE my food and every country I visit I like to try the local stuff (it should be illegal to go to a foreign country and eat egg and chips). For me, it’s all about immersing yourself in the local food and culture, so I like to not only taste the local food, but try to cook it too. When the Beard and I traveled around Vietnam we took a cooking class and it was one of my highlights of our holiday; it was so interesting learning how different the Vietnamese cooking techniques are to our own, and how they use the ingredients to bring out flavours that us Brits would usually miss.
I’d also love to visit the Sekumpul Waterfalls’ a beautiful group of waterfalls surrounded by stunning nature. I’ve heard you really shouldn’t skip these when you visit Bali. We love a good Waterfall, as demonstrated in this blog post, and I just know it would make for some absolutely incredible photos for the Honeymoon album.
I’d also love to go snorkeling, surfing, maybe try tubing again – Seriously, the options of incredible Holiday activities in Bali are endless!
