It’s been a crazy two weeks, involving one big Birthday, many glasses of Prosecco, SO MUCH BRUNCHING and more Birthday cake than you could shake a stick at (although why would you shake a stick at a birthday cake?) So lets crack on with the best bits; the bits that have made me unable to wipe a big fat cheesy smile from my face…
Becoming a 30-something Woman
I turned the big 3 0 last week and it feels fantastic! Unlike most people who are on the verge of 30, I was actually super keen to get stuck into the next chapter. I felt like I had been anticipating turning 30 ever since I turned 29, so when the day finally arrived I felt overjoyed (and a little relieved). I had an amazing day with the Beard, and in the evening I celebrated with all my friends and my Sister too, first at my flat and then we headed out to Camden for (many) cocktails.
Prosecco, Prosecco, Prosecco
There was a heck of a lot of Prosecco involved in my 30th celebrations, and I’ve made the wise decision that whilst cider may have been the chosen alcoholic beverage of my 20’s, Prosecco is the new (ahem, much more glamorous) drink of my 30’s.
He has spoilt me rotten over the past two weeks, taking me on multiple birthday brunches, treating me to a brand new phone, and decorating our flat with balloons and personalised birthday banners. But putting all that aside, best of all it’s just been amazing to hang out with him. My boyfriend works like a dog, even when he is at home he is never fully switched off and often working away on his phone or laptop. He also has to work a lot of weekends too (including this coming one, harrumph). So having two weekends of fun on the run with him have been amazing.
Breakfast at Duck & Waffle
I won’t say too much about this because I’m sharing the full Duck & Waffle blog post tomorrow, but I will say this – Incredible views and the best waffles EVER! This is where I spent the morning of my Birthday, making my 30th birthday a contender for the best birthday ever. If you live in London this place really is a MUST.
Victoria Sponge. With a musical candle. Winning!
I have been LOVING snapchat lately. I’ve been taking more than 100 of you on all my adventures, from my girly trips to Wales and Liverpool, to sharing all my Birthday shenanigans. If you’re not following me already, come find me on Snapchat here, or search on the app for TinkJayne. Future destinations include Ireland, Peru, Argentina and more! And in the meantime I’m snapchatting all the London love.
New Phone (and new case)
Dear Apple, it should be illegal to sell 8GB iPhones to bloggers. Don’t you realise we take pictures every 10 minutes and each picture takes at least 10 goes?
Yup, so my iPhone 5C was driving me up the wall. No matter how many times I cleared my data and deleted all my photos it would still tell me Storage Full. Grrr. Anyone else have this problem? I had to delete apps constantly, delete important messages, and I could never take photos. Anywho, I am now the proud owner of a 64GB iPhone 6, meaning I am once again snap happy. Also, how pretty is my new SkinnyDip phone case pictured up top??
Over the past two weeks I have shared two very personal posts. The first was about my body and the issues I’ve had with it. But mainly about how I want to change my own opinion of myself and love myself more. The second post was about Mental Health, in particular my own struggle with Paranoia.
I have had an overwhelming response to both of these posts, and after writing the second, I received some lovely messages and emails of support from friends, fellow bloggers as well as readers. I was also shocked to find out how many of us deal with some sort of anxiety, depression or paranioa on a daily basis, but keep it completely hidden. I feel like this is an issue that we need to talk about without feeling embarrassed or ashamed, and that is something I want to work towards. But anywho, I am so glad I opened up about my Paranoia, and I want to Thank every single one of you who read the post or got in touch to talk about it.
I was in Liverpool this weekend to see my family for belated Birthday celebrations, and it was a great weekend! To start we had such lovely weather up there, it felt like Summer was in full swing. Then on Saturday evening my Mum put on a bit of a spread, we ate homemade burgers, whilst drinking homemade snowballs, and we just had such a lovely evening, telling funny stories, and reliving memories of the past. I haven’t laughed that hard in ages!
I’ve joined the FitBit club
I got a fitbit. Meaning after two days of wearing it I am already obsessed with tracking my steps. You can set up challenges, so I’m in a group challenge with my family called the Work Week Hustle, it’s a challenge to see who can do the most steps over the next five days. Being crazy competitive, this is exactly what I need to get my fitness levels up.
In less than three weeks I will be walking up the aisle in a beautiful Vera Wang dress! *begins to daydream*
Don’t worry, just as a bridesmaid. I’m not getting married, not quite yet. BUT, with my Sister having her big day in two and a half weeks, and after attending her fitting this weekend, helping her finalise the last little bits, and with 99% of our conversations currently being Wedding related – I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been thinking about my own wedding day. The Beard and I are now considering looking into venues now, to possibly book on my return from south America, so that we can get married next year. Sigh. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive.
