Hallo aus Deutschland!
Ahem, Translation – HELLO FROM GERMANY!
So I’m currently in Berlin for a few days on a little getaway with the Beard. Ever booked to travel via Groupon before? It’s not a website I would normally head to for holidays, but we’re here trying out one of their super cheap mini breaks.
We’ve only been here 24 hours and already we’ve ticked so much off our list (and we’ve walked our arses off, seriously I’ve woken up to aching legs and feet! Pass the paracetamol) Today our aim is to have a historical morning, followed by an afternoon of fun with plenty German beer involved, obvs! But I’ll share more on that next week. For now, here is my second Happy Monday list with a few things that have made me happy over the past seven days:
Returning to Fit Star
I signed back up to Fit Star Premium and decided to get back into my workouts. For anyone who can’t afford or doesn’t care for gyms (raises hand) then this app is for you. It shows you how to do a great workout in your own home without needing any equipment or a lot of space. It’s free to download and you’ll get two free sessions a week, but I recommend signing up to the annual package. It’s £29.99 per year, but it puts you on a program suitable to your needs and let’s you workout as much as you like.
Snapping up YouTube
I just had to pop a few floors up to the YouTube studios this week to get a pic and see the place where so many YouTubers have filmed and collaborated. How cool are those yellow doors??
A Visit from the Style Fairies
It’s very rare for me to actually look ‘stylish’ or ‘on trend’. Long-time readers of this blog will know I kinda gave up on fashion blogging a while ago. In fact I basically gave up on being ‘fashionable’ back in 2013 when I was bitten by the travel bug. Suddenly style took a back seat and dressing for comfort took over. But every now and then I get a very rare visit from what I like to call The Style Fairies! This is when something magical happens and without even thinking about it I’ve somehow pulled a stylish outfit out the bag (Thanks fairies!) And as much as I love my comfy Jeans, Tees, jumpers and my good old faithful black ankle boots (that are worn during all four seasons) these rare stylish days make me feel like a million bucks! And so when the Style Fairies popped in last Thursday morning, I was chuffed to bits with the above last-minute-running-late outfit, which of course had to be shared on Insta.
Not being as fashion focused as I once was means that I shop for clothes less and less. But sometimes you can’t beat a payday trip to Primark. I treated myself to some new accessories, including some 70’s style sunglasses and a fedora hat, and my shopping experience was made even better when I realised I had been massively undercharged at the till. Get in *mini fist pump*
The Every Hotel Blogger Party
On Friday I went to a really cool party at EveryHotel Piccadilly to celebrate the hotel turning one. They put on an awesome event, with a great DJ, fantastic food, and there was even an interactive birthday cake (I know, welcome to the future). Oh, also, a completely free bar! So yeah, I got good and drunk. I actually got a lot more drunk than intended, I’m talking singing screaming and throwing my legs around on the dance floor to New York New York with the hotel manager and some very merry mummy bloggers. Not a bad Friday night really!
Breakfast at Stanstead Airport
What used to be a s*** hole is now a brand shiny new airport. Yay! I haven’t been to Stanstead since last summer, when it resembled a building with a Burger King hanging off the back. But now the transformation is complete and there are lots of posh stalls, pretty circular bars, popular shops (everything from Oasis to Next and even a Hamleys Toy Store) and a much larger variety of food places than before. We had a yummy Breakfast at Giraffe – what is it about eating Breakfast at the airport?? I love it. I think it’s something to do with kicking off your adventure with a darn good meal.
We can now automatically add Gifs to our tweets and so obviously I’ve been making my tweets ten times more giftastic than before!
Arriving in Berlin
It’s always amazing to go and explore a new city. Especially my Travel partner in crime, the Beard. Berlin completely confuses me because it reminds me of a cross between Amsterdam and Beijing even though those two cities are completely different from one another.
What has made you happy over the past week? Got much planned this week?
This week I’ll obviously be continuing to explore Berlin more and I’m also booked onto a rather exciting cookery class when I return to London.
Enjoy your week folks and HAPPY MONDAY!
