10 Things you should do this March

Get Reading
March 3rd is World Book Day so get your nose stuck in your favorite book or why not splurge on a few new ones? I’m currently reading The Life of a Banana by PP Wong. Of course if I was re-reading my favourite book I would unashamedly be picking up my battered copy of Twilight #soznotsoz

Dine in the Dark
March marks the 10 year Anniversary of the famous London restaurant Dans le Noir? a venue that pushes the boundaries of modern dining by inviting it’s diners to eat ‘In the Dark? (that’s the literal translation but I think you probably already knew that). Apparently by feeding us in the pitch black darkness and therefore removing our sense of sight, Dans le Noir? is not only challenging our perception of taste but is also offering a totally liberating atmosphere free from any kind of vanity and pretentiousness. I like the sound of that, Lord knows I could do with a break from instgramming my food! I also like the sound of their new project, Otra Vista Social Club a new ‘Silent Dance Floor’ due to launch in April.

Drink Absinthe
They say that this green beverage can be a mild hallucinogenic for the creative types. Apparently writers such as Ernest Hemingway and Oscar Wilde enjoyed the occasional glass when looking for inspiration to strike them (or looking for a visit from the Green Fairy). Are you looking to be inspired? If so you might want to join in on Absinthe Day, a day that celebrates Absinthe existence. Take part on Saturday the 5th by simply having a glass or two of the stuff. Although I should warn you, watch out, it’s ridiculously strong and you might accidentally end up sh*t faced off one glass.
Ahem, please drink responsibly, I won’t be to blame for any visits from the Green fairy.

Freak out at The Forest
In February I went to the screening of new horror flick The Forest, starring Natalie Dormer. I’m not normally a fan of the horror genre, purely because my imagination run wilds, meaning that even though I’m nearly 30 years old I will still have nightmares after a scary movie, and I will still convince myself that whatever ghost or ghoul featured heavily in the film, that they are in fact living under my bed. But the reason I was intrigued by this film is because it’s set in the legendary Aokigahara Forest, located at the base of Mount Fuji, Japan, a Forest known as the place where people go to commit suicide.
This film  is perfect if your up for a good fright night with ya friends. The film is centered around one woman’s journey to find her Twin Sister who went missing in the Forest a few days earlier. I spent the majority of the film trying to work out the twist and occasionally almost pooping my pants in the cinema as there is A LOT of jumpy moments and creepy faces *shudders*

Get Crafty
I had no idea that March is Craft Month, but apparently it is. I have to admit I don’t do as many arts & crafts as I used to, which kinda sucks as I love making my own unique things. My DIY Dip Dye Clothing post is still to this day my most read blog post EVER! But it feels like I never have time to go and buy the supplies anymore let alone sit down and get my craft on (although I did make this Floral Headband back in November in the record time of 5 minutes!) But maybe this month we should all make the effort for craft month? One thing I am interested in doing – and that I think you should look into too – is the crafternoon cabaret club It’s run by a girl called Hannah that I met at a craft event last year. It combines crafting with Cabaret, how awesome is that??

Spend time with your Mum
I shouldn’t have to remind you that it’s Mother’s Day on the 6th of March (if you’d already forgotten, then quick, put it in your notebook/diary/iCalendar). Sending a card and flowers her way is obviously very sweet and thoughtful, but what about giving your Mum the best present that money can’t buy – your time. It doesn’t have to be on Mother’s Day if you are busy on that particular Sunday, maybe arrange some Mum time for another day or an evening, but I think it’s important to hang out with her to celebrate that one day of the year that we say ‘Thanks Mum for being my Mum’.

See how much cereal you can eat in one day
Calling all cereal lovers, Monday 7th of March is Cereal day, so whether you’re a plain and simple cornflakes kinda person or your more of a fruit loop, make sure to join the rest of the cereal gang in munching down on cereal. Or if you’re in London why not head to cereal killer cafe, I’m yet to pay it a visit (the one time I did there was a queue far too long for a bowl of cereal) but I really need to go back and try it out.

Guinness paddy day

Enjoy a pint of Guinness (or two or three) for St. Patricks Day
You simply MUST enjoy a pint of Guinness on the one day of the year that the majority of UK & Ireland dresses up in bright green to celebrate Paddy’s day, known to the boring tame people as the 17th March. If the taste of Guiness isn’t to your liking, add a little blackcurrant cordial to sweeten it. Or why not make your own Chocolate Guinness cake?? Nom nom nom.

Stuff ya face with Easter Chocolate
Sod the diet, lock away the scales and come Sunday the 27th March I demand you treat yourself to copious amounts of creme eggs and malteaser bunnies.
