I’m a little late to the Bulletproof Party, but so glad I joined!
Last week I finally tried the new coffee recipe that fitness fanatics have been going crazy for – Bulletproof coffee. Thanks to the team over at Kerrygold, Ireland’s favorite butter, this controversial coffee trend worked it’s way into my kitchen, and I’m pretty certain it will be staying there. In other words, I am totally sold on this new coffee craze. And so together, along with Kerrygold, I decided to share with you how to make a crackin’ hot & frothy Bulletproof coffee…
But First. What the fudge is Bulletproof Coffee?
Whilst there is an actual brand called Bulletproof Coffee, it’s more about the concept. BP is a new coffee trend that involves putting grass-fed butter, such as Kerrygold, into your coffee, along with MCT oil, and blending it all up.
In other words, it’s coffee + oil + butter.
Obvs, yes. The current thing to do with Bulletproof coffee is replace your usual breakfast with one. This is because it triggers weight loss by way of ketosis, a metabolic state brought on by the lack of carbs that basically kicks fat-burning into overdrive. And the MCT oil rapidly metabolizes into ketones, providing almost instant energy to the brain without needing glucose from dietary sugars or carbohydrates.

It kills those annoying cravings, burns fat and boosts your brain with energy, meaning you can crack on with your day with a clear head and less snacking distractions.
Does it actually work?
I haven’t been drinking it long enough or regularly enough to be able to tell you about any weight loss benefits I personally have achieved, BUT, I can most certainly vouch for the other benefits. You see, unlike regular coffee, I didn’t crash and burn after an hour or so, instead I was fuelled with energy that lasted most of my working day. Seriously, this stuff switched my brain on.
However, I am not personally going to recommend that you swap your breakfast for a Bulletproof, because it totally depends on the kind of person you are/what you would normally eat/your lifestyle etc etc etc. I personally have been enjoying drinking one when I know I have a super busy workday ahead of me, or am feeling tired and really need that instant health boost that a Bulletproof can give me. A must for a Monday morning.
