Hands up who loves Afternoon Tea. Surely everyone right? As an English girl it is in my blood to be mad about tea, and it’s not hard to be mad about those lovely British scones too. And as for all the cakes and finger sandwiches that come with, well who doesn’t love cakes & finger sandwiches?
Afternoon Tea has been a British pastime for 175 years, ever since Anna, the Duchess of Bedfordshire and gal pal to Queen Vic, came up with the concept as a way of satisfying her hunger until dinner time (God Bless you Lady Anna!) But today it has become a much loved afternoon event not only here in the UK but around the world, with cities such as New York, Miami and Bangkok joining in on the delight. But no one does Afternoon Tea like us Brits and that’s probably why we have dedicated a whole week to it. Yup, this week is National Afternoon Tea week (10th – 16th Aug). To help you decide where to enjoy your tasty tea with plenty of cakes, sandwiches and a few unusual extras, I’ve rounded up some of the amazing Afternoon Teas on offer this week:
