I decided to buy myself a Breville Blend-Active with some of the Birthday money I received earlier this month (yup, your officially a grown-up when you spend your Birthday money on a Blender instead of Booze) and in the short five days that I have owned this Blend-Active we have become Best Friends. If you follow me on Instagram you will have already seen my collection of Smoothie-related pics and hashtags piling up on your feed. Sorry for Smoothie-spamming you, but I just can’t believe how much fun I’m having making Smoothies, coming up with recipes and knowing (for most of them) that what I’m drinking is so good for me. The Blend-Active is also super easy to use and fantastic for people on-the-go. The actual blender dispenser is also a portable bottle and it comes with a spare, meaning I can make a Breakfast smoothie to enjoy on my commute to work and pack one for my lunch too, which is exactly what I have done today.

The Blend-Active arrived on Friday, so on Saturday morning I went out and bought LOTS of ingredients – as you can see from the above – to start playing around with. Wanting to be healthy I opted for lots of fruit and veg, and mostly fat free or low fat products. I’ve basically had a smoothie weekender, testing out different recipes, and whilst I’m still planning to scout out and come up with many more, below are three super-easy recipes that I think work brilliantly for Beginners like me, and that will see you through your week perfectly.…

Latte

The Morning Ritual • Banana Latte Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:
2 tsps of Instant Coffee
1 & 1/2 Chopped Banana’s
300ml Almond Milk
2 tbsp of Fat Free Vanilla Yoghurt
1 tsp of honey

OPTIONAL: Add a sprinkle of cinnamon, or perhaps coco powder

HOW TO:
Whack them all in and press Blend

This smoothie tastes delicious and the Bananas will set you up for the day ahead; they give you plenty of energy, not to mention Bananas have been proven to improve moods, so you’ll be feeling happier by the time your taking your last gulp. If you’re not drinking caffeine just switch to decaf.

BerryThe Very Berry • Lunch Time Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:
Handful of Chopped Strawberries
Handful of Blueberries
Handful of Raspberries
1 chopped Banana
250ml Almond Milk
2 tsp of Fat Free Vanilla Yoghurt
A drizzle of Honey

HOW TO:
Dunk in all that goodness and press Blend

This fun and fruity Smoothie is perfect for a midday feeding. It contains 4 of your 5 a day, and is bursting with Vitamin C from the strawberries and raspberries. It taste really yummy and is quite filling too.

green

The Hangover Helper • Super Green Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:
A big Handful of Spinach
½ avocado
Handful of grapes
250ml green tea
1 tsp of honey

HOW TO:
Dump ingredients in. Press Blend

If you’ve had a heavy one the night before and you’ve got a busy day ahead, enjoy one of these super green smoothies and you’ll be on your way to recovery in no time. Did you know that avocados actually contain more Potassium than bananas? And Popeye taught us all the important lesson that Spinach = strength, and with the added antioxidants from the green tea, this is an amazing post-drinking recipe. It’s also a great Smoothie to have if your NOT hungover, it’s healthy, tasty, easy, in fact I’ve prepared one for my lunch today.

Do you have any Smoothie Recipes to share? If so, leave them in the comments below, I’m looking to try plenty more. HAPPY BLENDING
