The Ideal Home Show with John Lewis • London

April 20, 2014

A few weeks ago, I attended the Ideal Home Show* courtesy of John Lewis. I’d never been to the Ideal Home Show before, the Clothes show yes, but the Home Show? Naaah, thats stuff too boring for me. Right?

Wrong! It was an awesome day out. Maybe it’s because I’m ‘growing up’, maybe it’s because after a year of travelling I’m now appreciating the finer things in life (like comfy bedding, and fancy kitchenware) or maybe it’s because the Ideal Home Show hosted so much more than I could have anticipated. There really is something for everyone, it’s not just about kitchen demonstrations and gardening equipment – although the gardening section was brill – there was also shopping, catwalk shows, kids areas, home interior inspiration, food stalls (with free tasters), there were bars, cafes, and okay so there were a lot of kitchen demonstrations, but the Ideal Home Show did it in style and presented us with some live celebrity cooking demo’s, nice!

But best of all, and to my surprise and delight, there was a beauty section! Who would have thought it? It was make-up brands and free samples galore, I even got a cheeky purchase, but for more on that and the Beauty brands, check out my post The Ideal Home Show – My Top 5 Brands.

As mentioned above, it was the lovely people over at John Lewis who kindly invited me along as they celebrated joining the Quiet Revolution by teaming up with Quiet Mark. ‘What is Quiet Mark?’ I hear you ask, well it’ not an actual product, it’s a universal symbol. Quiet Mark has created a use for quieter technology in our homes and the workplace, basically helping manufacturers to build quieter appliances. Still not understanding? Yeah I was a bit confused too, until I saw ‘The Quiet Treehouse’ at the Home Show, check it out…

How beautiful is that? Not only beautiful from the outside, but inside it was a place of calmness and serenity as the Quiet Treehouse showcased the latest technology and appliances awarded for excellence in sound quality and quieter designs. Think of all those noises you hear on a daily basis, hoovers sucking, TV’s buzzing, well the Quiet Treehouse had none of that, as we stepped into this soothing and innovative dream house.

When I was first told about John Lewis partnering up with Quiet Mark to give us the Quiet Treehouse, there was one person I knew would love and appreciate it. My Mum. As I was going on the Friday before Mothers Day, I decided to invite my Mum along for a bit of a Mothers day treat, and my Sister too, and of course she brought along Baby Harry. Together we had a little family day out. Here is what we got upto…
