I know I do Photo diaries every week, but I thought I would do a separate post for my Birthday and share my snapshots from the big day. I say big day, but actually my birthday was very chilled this year (I must be growing up)….
On the eve of my 28th Birthday, Ollie, myself, and a few friends we are staying with, ordered in some takeaway as we couldn’t be bothered to cook. We decided to go for an American style burger place called Burger X – this is what I love about London, you are always finding great new places to eat (or in our case Takeaway). For my last meal as a 27 year old, I ordered the X Hot Dog, which had 3 sausages Frankfurter style, white sauteed oinions, ketchup and mustard. It was incredible.
I awoke on Wednesday to beautiful sunny weather. Perfect weather for Spring. It put a huge smile on this Birthday girls face.
I spent the morning by myself which was nice, drinking copious amounts of tea and hectically blogging because I was behind schedule. But at midday I headed to my Sisters for lunch. Here I opened all my cards, and these two were my faves. The one off my Sister is so cute, and kinda reminds me of my obsession with Instagram. Whilst I love the one off my boyfriend because he drew a little beard on the guy, plus it said lots of nice things on it, and as my Mum always says “It’s all about the verse”
My Sister was kind enough to get me a Cake, and my fave too, Victoria Sponge! And there was even a candle and a chorus of Happy Birthday. No idea where she got the cake but it was Super fresh and therefore Super tasty.
We sat in her garden to enjoy it with a spot of Afternoon Tea, and we soaked up the sun whilst cuddling little baby Harry.
Me and my Sis then spent two hours discussing make-up, swapping tips and showing each other our favourite Beauty Vloggers (I think one of the best presents I got was my Sister introducing me to Cassandra Bankson’s YouTube channel). But at 5pm I headed home to meet Ollie as he had made dinner plans for us.
I was delighted to find out Ollie had booked us a table at Sushi-Say for 6.45pm sharp. It’s a Japanese restaurant in Willesden Green, and is meant to be one of the best Japanese restaurants in London, and is apparently on par with the food served in Tokyo (to be fair, every single table was reserved!) I’m obsessed with Tokyo and Sushi, so this was perfect.
We started off with a little (okay quite a lot) of Sake, served in this awesome … jug??
Then we tucked into our food. We shared some Edamame Beans (drool) and Dumplings. Then I had a Fatty Tuna Nigiri with wasabi, Salmon Nigiri, and a plate of California Maki.
Ollie had something I can’t pronounce, or remember how to type, but here it is…
I loved Sushi-Say and plan to go back soon. Next time I’ll take some proper notes and get some good photos, then I can blog about it.
After our AMAZING food, we somehow managed to fit through the doors of Sushi-Say and leave (seriously, we were so full) and we picked a bottle of wine (or two, Sssh) and headed back to our friends for a chilled night on the sofa in my new PJ’s … with Wine … and nibbles …. and chocolate.
I had a really lovely day on Wednesday! It’s by far the most chilled and relaxed Birthday I’ve ever had – last years was obviously quite unique, being in China and all (you can see all the pics and deets on that HERE) but I still always normally arrange some sort of drinks or cocktails, a wild night out, book a booth at a club, but not this time. Well technically I should have been having drinks tonight in Camden and going to a gig, but instead I am ditching those plans and driving upto Liverpool to see my Family. And I’m really excited, no boozing it up for me, no drunken night bus home, no nasty Birthday hangover. Instead I am looking forward to lots of tea, home-cooked food, and sitting down with my niece and watching Disney’s Frozen. Yup, I’m definitely getting old.
