I feel like I’m waaaaaaay behind on this challenge, in fact it’s almost become a trend now, and as usual I’m behind with the current trends. But better late than never. I have decided to do the 100HappyDays Challenge, and thought why not kick it off on the eve of my 28th Birthday …
I kept seeing the hashtag #100HappyDays on my instagram feed and I assumed it was just another photo challenge, similar to the Blogtober photo challenge I set up. But when I read a blog post on A Beautiful Mess about the ins and outs of the 100 Happy Days Challenge, I knew I had to do it. It’s basically a challenge, or project if you will, to document one thing everyday that makes you happy. Sounds easy, but according to the projects website 100happydays.com “71% of people tried to complete this challenge, but failed quoting lack of time as the main reason.” So basically more than two thirds of the people didn’t have time to be happy. That’s sad right?
My personal reason for doing this challenge is very simple – I want to get happy! Not that I’ve been totally miserable, but I have been a bit down in the dumps recently; coming back to England after a year long adventure abroad was a bit of a shock to the system. And it’s great being back in London, but job hunting and flat hunting has all been a bit stressful and hard going. But enough of the negatives, lets get positive! I’m hoping to complete this challenge, whilst also realising and appreciating all the good in my life.
Although I learnt about the challenge last month, I decided to wait until today to kick it off. Tomorrow I turn 28. But I wanted my last day as a 27 year old to be a happy one, and also the first 99 days of my 28 year old life to be gloriously happy too. And why stop there? I’m hoping the challenge will bring out a new super happy side to me and I will start to appreciate my life on a daily basis. Because I think it’s really important to be happy, and we shouldn’t be forcing ourselves to make room for happiness in our lives, our lives should always be happy.
