Hello from the land Down Under. First off, a huge apology for doing sod all blogging recently. It’s quite difficult to blog when your travelling around Asia, for many reasons; lack of wifi, lack of power sources, lack of time (due to general fun being had). So for that I am really sorry, I’ve been a terrible blogger. My stats definitely prove that. My boyfriend and I haven’t even been able to keep our travel blog up to date because we have been so busy, we are only now catching up on the events of the past three months. To read all about those events and see pictures, head to www.boyandgirlmeetsworld.
This post is mainly a catch-up. So first off, our three month expedition in Asia (China, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam) was the best three months of my life. It was incredible and I can’t even begin to describe what an amazing journey we’ve been on and I encourage all to travel. We saw some beautiful places, ate amazing foods, met lots of wonderful people and even made a few friends for life.
We are currently in Brisbane, Australia, where we plan to settle for a few months and look for work. I’ll admit its been an emotional struggle for us both, trying to adapt to normal life after the fun-filled journey we have been on, not to mention saying goodbye to our travel buddies and trying to make new ones. It hasn’t helped that we know London is having a heat wave (typical) and we are stuck in Australia’s winter for the time being. It’s not a British winter, Thank God, it’s sunny with a chill; but after finally acclimatizing to South East Asia’s baking heat, it may as well be snowing here. I did not expect to be wearing jumpers (and didn’t pack any for that matter).
But we remain positive, and overall happy. We are homeless at the moment, so we are still living in hostels and sleeping on friends sofas, which I actually don’t mind as then I still feel like I’m travelling, but once the work comes in we plan to find a more permanent place.
We’ve only been here a week and a half but we’ve done some awesome things so far in Australia such as Whale Watching on the Gold Coast; we saw some humpback whales which was spectacular. I didn’t even think I’d find it that interesting but it took my breath away and one point I even got a bit teary-eyed, just because it was such a beautiful thing to see, and something I never imagined I would.
But anyway, I’m rambling now. I’ll finish up … so I’m back to being broke, I’m also jobless and homeless, this can only mean one thing. Back to my budget ways. But that’s me, and that’s what I’m all about, and its what this blog is all about – living and enjoying life without breaking the bank. So I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead. I’m hoping to find a way to do some DIY stuff, and find other cheap and budget things to do here in Australia. I think this will be easier to do once I’m settled into a job and location. But first up is a hair blog post. Two in fact. The first is a product review, which you can read here. Whilst the Second, I’m still working on, but it is all about the ‘No Heat Hair Challenge’ which I sort of accidentally ended up doing whilst travelling. But honestly it has transformed my hair. So make sure to check it out.
Once again, a BIG FAT SORRY for falling off the blogging radar.
